To the editor:
Obviously, drawing imaginary circles around ourselves and declaring them "gun-free zones" does not work.
However, instead of respecting our right to own firearms and to protect ourselves, legislators are calling for more restrictions on firearm ownership, including banning pump shotguns because one was used by the (Northern Illinois University) murderer.
We cannot sit idly by and wring our hands. NOW is the time to declare we’ve had enough of being sitting ducks for murderous killers. Illinois is one of only two states left that does not have a self-defense Right to Carry law, and we want that changed NOW, before there is another Tinley Park or NIU killing spree.
