Letter: Blessings all along the way

To the editor:

I was on the committee to help plan the Hamilton County Prayer Breakfast. When we began planning, we had no idea how many people would come. We were having it in the middle of winter and at 6:30 in the morning.

As the week of the breakfast came, snow was in the forecast for late Thursday night and to continue on Friday. Lots of praying was done in hopes that the snow would hold off.

When I got up Friday morning at 5 a.m. and looked out, I said a prayer of thanksgiving that there was no snow. As I drove to McLeansboro, I thanked God again that the roads were clear.

When I got to the church about 5:45 it was very cold and still very dark. The first people I see when I entered the building were 10 to 12 student workers. How cool is that!

As breakfast time approached, people started arriving, and arriving, and arriving. When the final count was taken, we had over 250 people in attendance. WOW.

If you were there, I know you received a blessing. If our nation ever needs prayer, it is now.

I think I can speak for the whole committee when I say ... the first Hamilton County Prayer Breakfast (was) a success.
