Linus “Buck” Rubenacker

Linus “Buck” Rubenacker, 74, of McLeansboro, passed away at 7:43 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at his residence.

He was born in Piopolis on Nov. 6, 1933, a son of Edwin and Elizabeth (Herzing) Rubenacker. He married Linda Sue Blades on Dec. 8, 1956, in Chicago; she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1994.

He was a retired car salesman and was employed by Teffertiller Motors, McLeans-boro, for many years.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeans-boro with Monsignor Joseph Lawler officiating.

Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 106, with burial to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.

Mr. Rubenacker is survived by four daughters, Debra Rubenacker and companion Harry Green of McLeansboro, Tammy Bowman and husband Windell of McLeansboro, Paula Jackson and companion Roger Garrett of McLeans-boro and Kris Taylor and husband Clint of Versailles; nine grandchildren, Paul Jackson, Holden Jackson, Gregor Garrett, Nicole Rube-nacker, Luke Bowman, Kelsey Bowman, and Caleb, Cole and Clayton Taylor; one sister, Sister Anastasia Rubenacker of Ruma; one brother-in-law, Charles Blades and wife Becky of Dahlgren; one sister-in-law, Silvia Sutphin of Sheridan, Wyo.; and one niece and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and infant daughter, Barbara Sue.

Mr. Rubenacker was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Carmi, an avid Cardinal fan and he was devoted to his grandchildren.

He served with the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict.

Memorials may be made to St. Clements Annex and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
