Marie M. Devoy

— Marie M. Devoy, 87, Enfield, died Sunday evening, July 6, 2008 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born June 9, 1921, in Piopolis, the daughter of William F. and Catherine (Engel) Mitsdarffer. She married James A. Devoy on June 9, 1953, in Piopolis, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1993.
Mrs. Devoy was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church near Enfield and belonged to the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Marion Devoy of Enfield and Carl Devoy of Carmi; two grandchildren, Jeremy Devoy of Mc-Leansboro and Chelsey Devoy of Carmi; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Jona-thon and Justin Devoy; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Lucy Mitsdarffer of Evans-ville, Ind.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Floann and Norman Kirsch of Mc-Leansboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; brothers, Paul, Robert, Francis and Edwin; sisters, Jennie Weubbles and Madlen Bond; and three siblings in infancy.
Funeral Mass was held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church near Enfield, with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield, with a prayer service at 5. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
