The Rev. Marvin Harrelson
The Rev. Marvin Harrelson, 66, of Cambria and formerly of McLeansboro, died at noon Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his residence.
The Rev. Harrelson was a minister and retired butcher at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Carbondale.
He was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Wood River to Roy and Sybil (Pittman) Harrelson. He married Ruth Louise (Scarberry) Harrelson on May 5, 1973, in Tilden; she survives.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church in McLeansboro with the Revs. Gary Davenport and George Calhoun, as well as friend Jerry Stone, presiding.
The Rev. Harrelson was ordained through International Gospel Assemblies. He loved photography, music, cooking and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Timothy Robert Harrelson and girlfriend Beth Casteel of McLeansboro; a daughter, Treena Jett and husband Dennis of Iuka; his father, Roy Harrelson of Mt. Vernon; stepgranddaughter Kaitlyn Jett of Iuka; and four sisters, Erma Gibson and husband Dennis of Woodstock, Cora Lee Fletcher and husband Jim of Salem, Cecelia Wagner and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon and Gayla Davenport and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Harre Funeral Home of McLeansboro was in charge of all arrangements.
