Mildred Lager Gass, 86, McLeansboro, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Gass was a homemaker.
She was born in Logan on Dec. 16, 1921, a daughter of Roma and Jethrey (Jones) Neunlist. She married Philip Lager on Jan. 18, 1941, at Jackson, Mo.; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1990. She married Cletus Gass on May 7, 1994, at New Salem Baptist Church in Dale.
Funeral services were Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Ernie Essary and Harl Cockrum officiating. Interment was at Digby Hill Cemetery in Dale.
Mrs. Gass is survived by her husband, Cletus Gass of McLeansboro; one daughter, Jeanette Sue Lager of Muddy; one son, Philip E. Lager and wife Donna of McLeansboro; grandchildren Debra Voelz and husband Ed of Muddy and Rodney Ritchason of Muddy; great-grandchildren Rachel Russell and husband Nick of Shawsburg, Va., Lynsi Seets of Muddy and Rodney Bryant Ritchason II, U.S. Air Force, Grand Forks, N.D.; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren Charles Gass, Val Gass and wife Jeanette, and Becky Barr and husband Keith, all of McLeansboro, and Lanora Nichols and husband Randy of Calvert City, Ky.; and five stepgrandchildren.
Mrs. Gass was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Dale, and loved being involved in church-related activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 49 years; two sisters; and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home, which is in charge of all arrangements.
