Flyers on the Fourth

Club’s event to augment fireworks

McLEANSBORO — A new event will be part of the annual Fourth of July celebration here this year.

The Hamilton County Fearless Flyers, a remote-control aviation club, will present its first Float Fly Picnic from 3 p.m. to dusk Friday at the McLeansboro Reservoir.

The annual fireworks display, put on by the city's volunteer firefighers, will start at 9 p.m. Friday at the reservoir, Mayor Dick Deitz said.

The Fearless Flyers are inviting other clubs to the reservoir to participate in a "fun day of flying on and over the water," according to information from the club.

In the event of inclement weather Friday, the fireworks display will be held Saturday evening, Deitz said.
